Episode #43 The Drive Home to the Hawkesbury with Rachael Goldsworthy and Brenda Richardson from Tommy’s Tuc Shop

14 March, 2017 · Posted by Rachael Goldsworthy

Rachael G.:         Good morning, good afternoon, or good evening depending on when you’re watching this video. I’m Rachael Goldsworthy checking in with you on the drive home to Hawkesbury. And today I’m lucky enough to be joined by Brenda Richardson from Tommy’s Tuc Shop.

How are you?

Brenda R.:           Good, thanks. How are you?

Rachael G.:         Really really good. Tell me, what made you move to the area and why did you open this takeaway?

Brenda R.:           Well we’ve always lived locally and it was just a bit of a change. I’ve always done administration work.

Rachael G.:         Yeah?

Brenda R.:           And flipping hamburgers is definitely a bit of a change. So yeah I just decided to do something. I’ve had a few ups and downs over the last couple of years so I actually decided to actually open a takeaway shop with my daughter.

Rachael G.:         No, that’s great!

Brenda R.:           And this is how we came up with Tommy’s Tuc Shop.

Rachael G.:         Yes, and if anybody knows the local area Mulgrave, McGraths Hill, Windsor, and the greater Hawkesbury, everybody wants to come for your infamous burgers and also your bacon and egg rolls. Apparently they are like the best in the area.

Brenda R.:           Bacon and egg rolls. Hamburgers.

Rachael G.:         Hamburgers.

Brenda R.:           And we make all our own patties here.

Rachael G.:         Okay.

Brenda R.:           All the bacon and eggs. They’re just awesome-tasting. They’re coming from me.

Rachael G.:         She’s not bias but I can guarantee that many people, and lots of people say good things about all the food that’s served here. And she’s always so friendly. That’s what I like about Brenda. She always got a smile on her face. The people here are really nice. It’s in a great location if you’re not familiar with it, it’s in Wingate.

Brenda R.:           Wingate road. McGraths Hill, Opposite Canal.

Rachael G.:         Terrific, okay. Opposite Canal is really easy to find but if you ever want bacon and eggs rolls, burgers, those sorts of things, this is the place to come. Now, tell me, what’s the best part about the whole [inaudible 00:02:09]? What do you like about living here?

Brenda R.:           Just the friendly people.

Rachael G.:         Yes.

Brenda R.:           They are. You can have people come in here every day. And maybe their having a bad day but all the time they walk in [inaudible 00:02:22] [crosstalk 00:02:24] they usually got a smile on their face.

Rachael G.:         You brought their day. [crosstalk 00:02:24][inaudible 00:02:24]

Brenda R.:           We try and make sure that we make them talk. A lot of them come in, they don’t really say much. If you start up a conversation, then obviously they’re going to try to do that. And at the end they usually say “bye, have a good day.”

Rachael G.:         So you had win at the end of the day with everybody. Yeah, oh that’s good. So what sort of hours do you work? You wake up early in the morning for the workers or —

Brenda R.:           I’m usually here by maybe 5, 5:30.

Rachael G.:         Wow. That’s early enough. 5, 5:30, my goodness!

Brenda R.:           And then I’ve gotta leave. I usually go in and get my break around 6 so I’m usually back here by 6:30, so I’m usually open around 20 past 6:30.

Rachael G.:         Okay 20 past 6:30. If you want coffee, burgers, bacon and egg rolls, even milkshakes as well.

Brenda R.:           We do milkshakes, we do honey mustard burgers, which are really good. Chicken Caesar burgers which are even better.

Rachael G.:         Yes. Is there a special sauce on the chicken Caesar burger you can share?

Brenda R.:           No, no just a normal Caesar dressing. I think it’s just the way that it’s made. Everything’s made with love.

Rachael G.:         And that’s [inaudible 00:03:38] Things are made with love, people absolutely love the food that it is, and love what it is about the place as well, so it’s almost like a culture when you come and have lunch at somebody’s restaurant or café. You remember people, you know their name, you know what their order is, you probably get the regulars in everyday.

Brenda R.:           And if you have a great attitude, and your personality is [inaudible 00:04:01], or somebody should [inaudible 00:04:03].

Rachael G.:         No, that’s great

Brenda R.:           It sort of makes your day when you know that you know — that’s what you do.

Rachael G.:         Yeah, absolutely.

Brenda R.:           And they won’t run too far. I mean it’s not long before [inaudible 00:04:19].

Rachael G.:         Yeah, so you’re here from Monday through Friday?

Brenda R.:           Yes, Monday through Friday.

Rachael G.:         Okay, so if people wanted to phone orders in, can they do that? Is there a number that you can tell everybody?

Brenda R.:           I do but I don’t actually know it off my head.

Rachael G.:         That’s okay. She doesn’t ring herself so it’s all right. We [inaudible 00:04:36] numbers too.

Brenda R.:           Fax the orders through. [inaudible 00:04:45] A lot of [inaudible 00:04:40] fax their orders through. We also supply delivery service as well. We don’t always guarantee that we’re going to get it there the specific time they’ve actually asked us [inaudible 00:04:53] [crosstalk 00:04:53] but we try.

Rachael G.:         Yeah, that’s good.

Brenda R.:           Maybe 5 minutes or 10 minutes late but [crosstalk 00:05:03] —

Rachael G.:         We’re not going to mark it down for 5 or 10 minutes late.

Brenda R.:           We usually like to be on time.

Rachael G.:         That’s good, that’s good. So what we’ll do is we’ll put a link on the video for you, they can call in for the phone number [inaudible 00:05:12] the fax, you can order your meals via fax or phone in the orders prior to — so it it the day before or day of? You have to — [crosstalk 00:05:17]

Brenda R.:           [crosstalk 00:05:19] Usually yeah —

Rachael G.:         Look at that. The day of and you can still get a meal and —

Brenda R.:           We usually do like breakfast orders.

Rachael G.:         Yes.

Brenda R.:           We actually have people that come in and sit down and have bacon and eggs and substitutes and mushrooms.

Rachael G.:         Yeah. Well from one local business to another, thank you for being part of the [inaudible 00:05:37]. We really it. We all appreciate you being up early, feeding us, and ordering us making sure that we can go to work and do what we do and anybody that wants a really good bacon and egg burger, Caesar burger, anything to do with milkshakes or whatever, even if it’s small, [inaudible 00:05:55] she’ll bring that everyday of the week. Thank you very much for doing that Brenda and thank you [inaudible 00:05:59] today.

Brenda R.:           Thank you.

Rachael G.:         Yeah you’re welcome. Look forward to seeing you on the next video.

Episode #38 The Drive Home to the Hawkesbury with Rachael Goldsworthy – Rachael helps buyers and sellers with their questions on Real Estate in the Hawkesbury

28 November, 2016 · Posted by Rachael Goldsworthy

Good morning, good afternoon or good evening dependent on when you are watching this video. I’m Rachael Goldsworthy checking in with you on episode 38 of the drive home to Hawkesbury. Today I’ve been asked a lot of questions from sellers and putting their house on the market during the holiday season, and whether they should or whether they shouldn’t.

[00:00:30] Today I’m going to share with you my seven top reasons why you should put your home on the market over the Christmas holidays.

Reason number one, your home shows better during the holiday season. Typically your home is decorated, it’s looking festive, and pretty and generally you’ve had a lot of visitors over. Family coming over because you’re entertaining over the Christmas time and your house is looking beautiful. And you’re taking good care of your home and typically it shows better during the holiday season.

Reason number two, there’s [00:01:00] less competition from other people putting their houses on the market. A lot of people are in the mindset of oh it’s the holidays, and yes you know we’ve all been there and you know I guess thinking we’ll wait til after the holidays are over, we’ll put our home on the market then in January when we’re not so busy. And I think everyone is thinking the same thing so immediately you’ve got less competition. This makes it a better time for you to put it on the market as opposed to going in the market in January when everyone else wants to put their home on the market. [00:01:30] Um, so you always want to get your home on the market when there’s less competition.

Reason number three, there are less buyers in the marketplace which you might say well that’s not a very good thing if there’s less buyers however, whilst there may be less buyers out there, the people that really want to inspect the home during the holidays and they’re serious buyers. And ultimately that means that they’re going to … You’re going to have to show your home less over the period as opposed to winter and when you do show the home it will be with those motivated [00:02:00] buyers that really want to move now and get into the next house.

Reason number four, after the-, after the holidays, you can see that there’s no edits on this … Historically speaking the uh, mindset the holidays are over and they’re putting their home on the market which increases the choices of properties available for buyers so more typically in the new year, there may be a lower demand for your home. And there’s more competition which equates to a lower sale price for you.

So, there’s my top four reasons [00:02:30] why the holidays are a good time to list your home. So if you want to get the report and the reasons for the other three on the holiday season, reach out to me via text or email in the links posted below in this video and I’d be happy to help you.

Thanks so much for watching. I’m Rachael Goldsworthy wishing you all the very best for the holiday season.

Episode #34 The Drive Home to the Hawkesbury with Rachael Goldsworthy – How to identify growth suburbs and win with Property

13 July, 2016 · Posted by Rachael Goldsworthy

Good morning, good afternoon, or good evening depending on when you’re watching this video. I’m Rachael Goldsworthy and I’m checking in with you on the drive home to Hawkesbury. Today is State of Origin. I’m wearing the right colour I believe, but I’m walking around in Queensland with the wrong colour. But [00:00:30] I don’t mind because I’m proud of my heritage from New South Wales.

Anyway, I just wanted to check in with you with the State of Origin because it’s all about backing the right team, isn’t it? And it’s the same thing with houses. When you’re looking for the right house you want to make sure you back the right suburb. So I’ve put together a couple of ideas for you as I was driving around some of the newer subdivisions in the Queensland area, around Jimboomba, and a few other suburbs close by … Flagstone. There’s a few new [00:01:00] housing developments that are coming up, but interestingly all of those developments are built around infrastructure. So, what you’re looking at when you’re backing a suburb, or wanting to buy the right suburb, is a number of things, and it’s not limited to these things. But, equally, what is important is amenities because when you’re looking at resale people want to know that there’s particular shops or there’s particular rail lines, or there’s particular schools for the kids. Additionally there’s other things [00:01:30] that would come into play such as motorways. It’s important for people to access their workplaces or get around fairly easily with the transport or the local bus way system.

Uh, people also look for parks and play areas for the kids, whether there’s skate parks or whether there’s BMX tracks, or whether there’s local trails in the bush that kids can walk, or, say for example the bike tracks that are along Windsor Road leading into Windsor and run all [00:02:00] the way through to Rouse Hill. So that’s quite a popular one within the Hawkesbury area. Uh, we also have the pleasure of living near the Hawkesbury River. So that comes with it so many water activities that we can enjoy there. So, think of all of those things when you’re looking at backing the right suburb and that will put you in good stead.

Well good luck with the State of Origin tonight. I hope your team wins and you also back the right suburb wherever you may be buying your house.
