World Environment Day (WED) is one of the United Nations’ most important days for encouraging worldwide awareness and action for the protection of our environment. Since it began in 1974, it has grown to become a global platform for public outreach that is widely celebrated in over 100 countries.
WED 2015 saw a total of 2,861 registered activities with 1.26 million people participating worldwide. Please register your activity so we can feature it on our WED Community Map and inspire others to join in.
The theme for this year is:
GO WILD FOR LIFE
ZERO TOLERANCE FOR THE ILLEGAL WILDLIFE TRADE
This year in support of #GoWildforLife we will be supporting the National Zoo and Aquarium. The National Zoo & Aquarium contributes heavily to a large number of breeding programs that can help save a number of animals from extinction. They also raise money to donate to a number of local and overseas conservation initiatives and charities. You can help by becoming a member or by adopting an animal by clicking here like we did.
Join me in support of World Environment Day to ensure we help maintain this beautiful planet we have the privilege to inhabit.
